The Raven Corps is a youth-centered hub of activists devoted to building a just and sustainable future for humans, nonhuman animals, and our natural world.
We believe in a total liberation approach and trust that we can achieve liberation for ALL if we join forces and strike at the roots of oppression.
We educate one another and make connections that center the collective need for justice, compassion, and sustainability. Through it all, we support each other — growing as leaders, organizers, and change-makers in welcoming, open-minded spaces.
OUR PILLARS
-
Youth aren’t just the future – they are the now. We believe in young people. Not as tokens or saviors, but as capable individuals who deserve support in building a better world for all. Since our inception, we have centered youth voices in our work and provided the tools they need to feel empowered and uplifted in their own advocacy work.
-
The world’s f*cked up, and we’re living within systems of oppression designed without our input by the generations that came before us. It’s time we unlearn, relearn, dismantle, and rebuild so that everyone — human and nonhuman alike — has a chance at true equity.
-
We care deeply about the world, about each other, and we believe in our capacity to create change through critical empathy and kindness. “Critical” meaning we also know there are people, places, and spaces that certifiably don’t deserve our kindness – and setting those limits is an act of kindness to ourselves. We’ve built supportive spaces centering open dialogue, and we encourage one another to grow.
-
We firmly believe that intentional community-building is a form of resistance and one of our greatest tools in the fight against oppression. We strive to support one another as fellow human-beings, not just “activists.” A well-supported community is a powerful one.
-
Change starts with the people. We believe in grassroots action from the ground up. We believe in mutual aid and building power TOGETHER, because oppressive systems become weaker in the face of our collective strength.
-
We sustain ourselves with joy, and our work is built on the foundations of camaraderie and friendship. We want a better world, and we’re not afraid to work for it – so we strive to have fun while we’re at it. May our whimsy never die.
